The Book of Enoch is an ancient Jewish religious work traditionally attributed to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah. Long believed to be lost, the text was rediscovered in Ethiopia in the mid-18th century and later corroborated by fragments found among the Dead Sea Scrolls.
The opening sections describe the fall of the Watchers—angels who descended to Earth, took human wives, and fathered the Nephilim. The remainder of the book recounts Enoch’s journeys through heaven, presented as travels, visions, dreams, and divine revelations concerning judgment, cosmology, and the fate of humanity.
