Virginia Van Winkle Weisel (also Wysel, b. 1923) earned her BA in Painting from the University of Washington, Seattle, and her MA in Ceramics from Mills College, Oakland. She is well-known for the functional and beautiful stoneware she produced at her studio (“The Kiln”), in Bellevue, Washington from 1958 to 1971. This small vase is emblematic of her lovely and refined aesthetic.
